Dr. Marty Rosen – Building a Pediatric Practice
Dr. Marty Rosen is a 1981 summa cum laude graduate of Life Chiropractic College. He has practiced in Wellesley, Massachusetts as a family and pediatric chiropractor, since 1982. Over the past 34 years, Dr. Marty Rosen has taught pediatrics, craniopathy, SOT, practice management and chiropractic philosophy nationally and internationally to thousands of chiropractors and chiropractic students.
While lecturing and teaching to chiropractors and the public he has compiled thousands of hours of presentations on chiropractic technique, research and evidence based protocols. His unique approach to chiropractic and the care of the pediatric population is evidenced in his published books, DVDs, and professional articles.
Currently, besides his own seminar programs, he is teaching for the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association (ICPA) as part of their advanced certification program. His books include: The Pediatric Participant Guide for SOT®, The Pediatric SOT® Spinal Adjusting Manual, The SOT® Pediatric Cranial Adjusting Manual, has written a chapter on pediatric adjusting entitled, Sacro Occipital Technique®, in the 2nd Edition of “Chiropractic Pediatrics”, and his new book “Pediatric Chiropractic Care” was released in March 2015.

- Practice being comfortable with being uncomfortable to become successful.
- Art should be the heaviest in Art, Philosophy, and Science. Commit to your technique because dedication is key.
- Build a family practice and expect to see the children of any family. Also, be excellent at adjusting and you will get referrals.
- Pay attention to your practice statistics. You may need a refresher, or additional focus to bring in more patients.
- Objectify your goals, take periodic looks at the practice and re-evaluate yourself.
- During a report of findings: determine how engaged the patient is and modify your approach.
- The more time you spend explaining what chiropractic is, the less time they will spend in the practice. Learn to be aware of your audience.
- Adjusting on the first vs second visit: It’s impossible to find a subluxation pattern in one visit; You lose the ability to educate; You may be adjusting a compensation instead of a subluxation.
- Use newsletters, social media, referrals, and your website for marketing.
- Insurance companies mainly cover acute care.
- A new doc should be willing to put more time into building their practice. Set goals, use your strengths, and focus. Look to yourself first, to change your practice.
- Seasoned docs should never stop pushing the “boulder.” Learn new skills, interact with like-minded chiropractors, change your communication to your patients.
- Lesson learned: maintain balance in your life. Learn to process your mistakes and forgive yourself.

- Best business advice: Keep your overhead low, keep your expectations rational, and work really really hard.
- There will always be someone bigger than you, faster than you, smarter than you, etc. Do your best and feel good about your choices. Stop comparing yourself to other people.
